Ten days are to be spent in Western Samoa by Dr. R. M. Campbell, economic adviser to the High Commissioner for New Zealand, Mr W. J. Jordan, who left Wellington for Apia on Tues* day.
Dr. Campbell, who has been taking part in the freight contract negotiations for the shipment of New Zealand refrigerated produce to the United Kingdom, will later proceed to American Samoa, and there join the Monterey for San Francisco, en route to London, s.
Asked if Dr. Campbell’s visit had any special significance, the Prime Minister, Mr Savage, said reports by the New Zealand Government on its administration of the mandate were generally presented by Dr. Campbell to the Permanent Mandates Commission of the League of Nations.
It was therefore considered advisable for him to take the opportunity of visiting Western Samoa on his way back to London so that he could acquaint himself with the position there.
