Kerikeri R.S.A. To Form Rifle Club

Captain F. W. Voelcker presided at the annual meeting of the Kerikeri branch of the R.S.A.

The chairman’s report and the financial report were received and adopted, comment being made on the satisfactory state of the association’s funds.

The election of officers resulted: — Chairman, Captain F. W. Voelcker; vice-chad man, Mr L. Kendall; treasurer, Mr W. H. Perham; secretary, Mr R. Massey; committee, Messrs. J. G. Hodder, J. A. Cresswell, R. Deeming, C A. Gibling, and J. Dickie. Anzac Day arrangements came under consideration, and it was decided to hold a service at the memorial flagstaff, in the school grounds, at 10.15 a.m., and at the Cathay Theatre at 11 a.m. The day for sale of poppies was fixed for Saturday, 22nd. Formation of Rifle Club. The meeting voiced the opinion that in these times of uncertainty it is essential that all citizens should realise their responsibility in trailing themselves in the lire of arms. It was considered that the R.S.A. is the right body to call a public meeting of citizens to form a rifle club in the very near future, and this will be done as soon as possible.

The local reunion of ex-servicemen is to take place on Saturday, May 6. Mr R. Massey, who represented the local branch at. the Sydney parade last year, was accorded a hearty vote of thanks for the capable manner in which he filled the position of secretary during the past year.
