Interest in Northern Dairy Cow Contest
Much interest has been taken this year in the dairy cow competition held at the Mangonui A. and P. Show recently. The Kaitaia Dairy Company had presented a silver cup valued at 20 guineas for this purpose, the cup having to be won three times by the same exhibitor before becoming his
property. Mr E. I. Panther was the successful competitor last year, and this year the cup went to Mr T. Vv T . Maugham. Details concerning the first three cows in the competition were (maximum points that could be allotted for butterfat were 75, period of milking 15, type 10): — T. W. Maugham: lbs milk, 15, 18; tost. 6.0, 7,3; butterfat, 2.214; points butterfat, 74.169; points period, 11.375; total points butterfat and period. 85.544; points type, 8; total points, 93.544.
