Swimming: Certificates To Girls At High School

Swimming certificates gained by girls of the Whangarei High School during the first term, 1939, are as follow;

One Mile (11 girls).—Alexa Hadwin, Shirley Haycock, Pat Reed. Nancy Robertson, Gwenda Symons (aged 12 years), Ruth Beale (11), Maxine Dunne, Margaret Ward, Peggy Beale, Piri Ward and Jean Edgar. 880 Yards.—lo girls, Including Mavis Schon (12 ye'ars) and Pat Lambly (12 years). 440 Yards. —17 girls, including Helen Reid dl years) and P. Stevenson (11 years). Thivly-seven girls obtained the 220 yards certificate; 18 were victorious in the 100 yards; eleven in the 50 yards; and one in the 25 yards; making a total of 114 certificates.
