Double Programme At Plaza
Two full-length features make up the entertaining current programme screened at the Plaza last evening. They are a breathtaking story of American gangsterism, “Hunted Men," and a captivating depiction of modern college life, “Campus Confessions.” The first feature stars Mary Carlisle and Lloyd Nolan, and deals with a cafe manager who is killed by a gangster. Joe Albany, the gangster, in making his getaway, meets Peter Harris, who, in a slightly inebriated state, mistakes him for a friend and takes him home. There are some thrilling moments during the criminal’s stay, in the Harris household, particularly when the daughter of the house falls in love with Albany. A fitting climax brings an exciting dramatic screening to an end. Second feature is the long-awaited “Campus Confession.” a true-to-life screen version of college life. A bevy of college beauties star in this picture, which boasts a romantic theme, centring round the theory of a wealthy financier who is supporting a university college. He believe that a college should aim at nothing but training the mind. His son enters the college and immediately tries to inculcate different ideas, as the college has never succeeded on the field of sport. By dogged determination, he brings others round to his view, and, in spite of opposition from his father, brings his college into the front row of athletic achievement. This picture has been long awaited, for it is an education in itself, revealing as it does the inside story of college work and recreation.
