Heavy Goods Rail Traffic Continues
Very heavy goods traffic has taxed accommodation on Northland railways for several weeks past. r
/Every day trains tons are leaving Whangarei for further North; being assisted as far as Hikurangi by banking engines. Two such trains leave each day; while several specials have - -been pressed into service. "'*XFertiliser Truckings.
Officials' 1 state that the volume of goods traffic compares more than favourably with that of last year. _ The majority of loadihgs are made up of farm fertiliser consignments from Auckland, .and the demands are such as to present a difficult task for Whangarei transport officers responsible for the handling of through traffic.
With the fat lamb season practically ended, there has been less demand for stock waggons, although steady shipments of cattle for both Moerewa in the north and Westfield in the .south are adding their quota to the already heavy trains.
