Auckland Lodge Visitors Entertained

Members of the Auckland Past Grands Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F. who paid a visit to Whangarei at the •yveek-end, on Sunday morning were taken on a motor trip to Parua Bay via the Onerahi aerodrome and waterfront. For many it was their first visit to Northland, and they were loud in their praises of the scenery on the Heads Ro.ad and contemplate a longer excursion some time in the future. ' The tide was in and some enjoyed a swim at Parua Bay. They were entertained to morning tea at the Parua Bay Hotel. Evening- Function. On Saturday evening the Friendly Societies’ Hall was the scene of a happy gathering, when the 40 visiting members met the North Auckland Past Grands Lodge. Accompanying them was the District Grand Master, Bro. McKay and Bro. Rider, of the Management Committee. •

The working of the lodge was conducted by the visitors. , Purple Degree Conferred.

Opportunity was taken to confer the purple' degree on Past Grands Sister Parsons and Bro. Kenyon, of the Loyal Whangarei Lodge.

Bro. White, a member of both a Hawke’s Bay Lodge and the Auckland Past Grands Lodge was presented by the Grand Master with the Past President’s jewel, in recognition of his services as an officer of the Auckland Past Grands Lodge. During the evening the District Grand Master, Bro. McKay and Bro. Rider addressed the meeting on society affairs. At the conclusion of business a social was held. The Auckland visitors left Whangarei by bus at 3.30 p.m. on Sunday.
