Sunk In Collision

(Received 10 a.m.) NEW YORK, February 26. The American freighter Lillian, of 3482 tons, from Porto Rico, rammed the North German Lloyd liner Wiegand, of 5869 tons, 10 miles off the New Jersey coast. 70 miles south of New York. The Lillian began sinking immediately, and the crew of 32 took to the lifeboats, all being picked up safely by the Wiegand. The collision occurred in a fog. A coastguard cutter later reported that it was taking the Lillian’s crew from the Wiegand, leading to the presumption that the captain had decided to return to the vessel, which was still afloat at 7 a.m.
