Unfortunate Press Reports

(Received 2 p.m.7

LONDON, February 27

Replying in the House of Commons to Mr C. R. Attlee, Leader of the Opposition, the Colonial Secretary, Mr Malcolm MacDonald, said he was not in a position to make a statement regarding the Palestine conference. The British suggestions were still being discussed. Unfortunately misleading press reports of the substance of the proposals had caused serious incidents in Palestine, and he appealed to the press and the public to withhold judgment.
