Naval Units Visit Russell

Two units of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, the escort vessels Wellington and Leith were anchored off Russell, wharf over the week-end. H.M.S. Wellington arrived in port on Friday afternoon and dropped anchor close in shore in front of the post office. Official calls were made on Saturday morning, Messrs'A, E. Neumann, representing the Bay of Islands Harbour Board, Mr. T. Boucher, deputy chairman of the Russell Town Board. Mr. A. H. Hitchcock, Town Clerk and Mr. H. N. Ross, secretary of the Bay of Islands' Swordfish and Mako Shark Club visiting the vessel shortly after 10 a.m. The return call was made by Commander R. E. Hyde Smith and Lieutenant Commander C, C. Mellor at 11.30, the visitors being received in tho clubrooms of the Bay *of Islands Swordfish and Make Shark Club. H.M S. Leith arrived in port on Saturday evening.

Both vessels left at 11.40 a.m. on Sunday for Sydney.
