Record Gross Railway Revenue

[Special to “Northern Advocate ” 3 AUCKLAND, This Day. According to a statement issued by the Minister of Railways ,the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, the gross railway revenue for the four-weekly period ended February 4 will constitute a record. “As I have already said, we are estimating that the net revenue for the current financial year, which ends on March 31, will be somewhat above £700,000,” said the Minister. “For the four weeks ended February 4, the preliminary revenue figures indicate that the gross revenue will be about £B3o^oo— the highest revenue total ever yet recorded in the history of our railways for a fourweekly period. “The net earnings for this fourweekly period should approximate £150,000, or £42,000 more, than the net revenue for the corresponding period of last year.”
