A scrub fire which has been working towards the State forestry plantation at Taupo since Monday, has assumed .alarming dimensions. On the right hand side of the main highway from Taupo to Napier the fire is progressing in a north-westerly direction towards the forest. On the left it had commenced to drive up the slope of Tauhara M6untain but a change of wind to the north-west took the flames more toward the plantations.
