Mr Philip Commins

OBITUARY

The late Mr Philip Henry Handley Commins, who was the victim of a fatal accident on the Hutt Road, Wellington, on February 10, was a son of Mrs Commins, of Waikaraka. He was born at Maungaturoto and educated at Onerahi School. He was the second victim of the infantile paralysis outbreak 14 years ago, and won the admiration and respect of all he worked with by the plucky way in which he attacked and carried through any class of work in spite of being partly paralysed in the right arm. He was a real New Zealander, being the grandson of Captain H. E. Handley, late of the Scots Greys, well known in Auckland 50 to 60 years ago, and a great grandson of Seymour Wells, who came to New Zealand nearly 100 years ago.

In the absence of relatives, friends had the body removed from the hospital to the Catholic Church, from where the funeral took place.

. There are left to mourn him his father and mother, his sisters, Mrs D. Sketchley and Deborah, and his brothers, Ben, of Whangarei; Charles, of Ohakune, and John, of Dalby, Darling Downs, Queensland. Sincere sympathy is expressed with the bereaved family.

Herr Kundt, deputy leader of the Sudeten Nazis, declared that the minimum demands of Germans living in Czechoslovakia were freedom to live in accordance with Nazi laws, and to administer their own affairs and obey justice as they conceived it.
