s . - (Received 2.30 p.m.) „ I SANTIAGO, January 29. Newspapers estimate that the Ctylean earthquake dead will number at least 30,000 and the injured 60,000. Most bodies are still buried under tons of debris, constituting a grave menace to health. Polluted water and food shortage are causing widespread illness and suffering. Torrential rains hampered rescue work and added to the misery of refugees. The authorities have ordered the evacuation of devastated cities. Ruins are being dynamited and set on fire to prevent epidemics. The earthquake struck suddenly without the usual tremors.
