Bowlers On Top In Old Boys - Kamo Clash
The bowlers found the turf to their liking on the High School ground, and throughout the afternoon runs came slowly, averaging less than one a minute. The running between wickets of Kelly and De Montalk was a lesson in backing up. Despite a good start by the opening bats, Old Boys were soon scratching for runs. Lester again collected a bag of wickets, all but two falling to his slow left-hand spinners. Revel’s accurate length bowling had the batsmen in difficulties. Although he collected no wickets, he finished up with a string of maidens. De. Montalk again proved himself one of the best fast bowlers in the grade, and, with the exception of Quigg, none of the Kamo batsmen looked comfortable facing him. Giving only one chance, Quigg played a perfect innings and, though scoring slowly, he punished anything off the wicket.
