Albion Again In Tight Finish
Again Albion found the decision resting on the final over, and at Maungatapere tht best they could do was to share the points. Batting first, they found runs coming along in good style. Le Feux batted steadily, but the Madden brothers and Ray preferred the “long handle.” Ray bats as he bowls, and the runs came fast. Straight balls or off the wicket, all received the same cavalier treatment. •
With 146 up, Albion felt safe in declaring, and started chasing wickets. Maungatapere had scant respect, however, for the bowlers, and the score started mounting up. P. Croucher played another useful innings, while Thorpe rattled up the runs in good style. Ray bowled at full speed. He is probably the fastest bowler in the grade. One ball, rising higher than usual, struck H. Madden in the face. The call of time saw Maungatapere seven behind with three wickets in hand—a close finish to a good game. Scores: —
