Ship-A-Week Building For British Navy

(Received 3 p.m.) LONDON, January 27. The First Lord of the Admiralty, Earl Stanhope, in an article in “Home and Empire.” said that our superiority in battleships will be materially increased within three years. No other power is equalling the British naval expansion, which is being carried out on an unprecedented peacetime scale at an average of over one ship a week. This includes seven battleships, 21 cruisers, 29 destroyers, 25 submarines, five aircraft-carriers, giving the Fleet 400 vessels. Four out of the seven battleships are being launched this year.
