N.Z. Navy And Air Force Co-operating Closely

[Per Press Association. Copyright l WELLINGTON, This Day. A suggestion by Rear-Admiral W. H. MacKenzie that New Zealand’s Navy was her first line of defence, but that for real efficiency the Dominion must have an air force trained to co-operate with the navy, was commented on by the Minister of Defence, the Hon. F. Jones, yesterday. “The utmost co-operation already exists between the Air Force and the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy,” Mr Jones said. “When naval exercises are being carried out around the coasts of New Zealand, arrangements are made for aircraft to participate in combined exercises with our cruisers.

“This applies also to the air arm of the cruisers. Maintenance of the ships’ aircraft, is undertaken at the repair base at Hobsonville and every - thing possible is done to ensure the closest co-operation in method and training of the personnel of flying machines.”
