Mangonui On Tuesday evening, members of the Mangonui Women’s Institute and Anglican Guild gathered in McKay’s Hall to bid farewell to two of their members, Mesdames R. Dibble and D. J. McKay, who are shortly to leave the district.
The evening was spent in games, competitions and community singing, Miss M. Wrathall opening the function with a piano solo. The winners of the competition, “hidden words,” were Mrs Anso 1 and Mrs Barrett, consolation prize, and in the competition, “anatomy,” Mrs McKay was first, with Mrs J. Feisst getting the consolation. The members served a very dainty supper, after which Mrs R. T. Wrathall, president of the Mangonui Women’s Institute, spoke on behalf of the Institute, saying how sorry all were to be losing these two members, and wished them every success in their new places of residence. Miss Trimhell spoke on behalf of the. Anglican Guild and wished both ladies every luck. ,
Mrs Wrathall then presented both ladies with a beautiful bouquet, Mesdames Dibble 1 and McKay suitably
responding. . > All present then joined in singing “For They Are Jolly Good Fellows.” “Auld Lang Syfie” brought a very pleasant evening to a close. • • • * ♦ Waipu Mrs A. Donaldson presided over a good attendance of members and friends at the monthly meeting of the Waipu Women’s Institute, Final arrangements were made for the forthcoming show at Paparoa. The Roll Call for “household hints” brought many helpful suggestions. A visitor won the “competition of skill.”
Mrs Rees , tendered a paper on “Chiropody and Orthopedics,” by Mr W. Stewart, of Wakefield Street, Wanganui. This gives tAe correct deportmeht in walking, care of the feet, correct footwear and valuable foot exercises.
