Motor Cycle Escort For Governor-General

PAEROA, This Day. Over 1500 people greeted the Gov-ernor-General, Viscount Galway, and Lady Galway, when they reached Paeroa yesterday in continuance of their tour of the district. An escort provided by the Motor Cycle platoon of the First Battalion, Haui'aka Regiment, was inspected by Lord Galway. After receiving an address of welcome, His Excellency thanked the councillors for the warm welcome to himself and Lady Galway. A brief visit was also paid to Waihi. A large crowd assembled in the Drill Hall, where an illuminated address of welcome was read by the Mayor and i handed to His Excellency.

Later in the day the people of Thames accorded the Governor and Lady Galway a hearty welcome.

Addresses of welcome were given by the Mayor, Mr J. Thorn, M.P., and the chairmen of other local -bodies. His Excellency and Lady Galway returned to Auckland last night.
