Water Supply For Port Whangarei
“Vessels are coming to Port Whangarei continually, and we should have facilities for supplying them with water,” said the chairman,. Mr J. A. Finlayson, at yesterday’s meeting of the Whangarei Harboiir Board. Slome time ago the board had approached the Whangarei Borough Council to ascertain whether it would be agreeable to supplying water for the railway wharf at Port Whangarei, It had been stated that a pipe line could be laid from the borough boundary at Limeburner’s Creek bridge. Other members agreed that such a service was essential, and should be installed provided the cost to the board would not be too great. On Mr Ffnlayson’s motion, the engineer, Mr W. M, Fraser, was instructed to make further inquiries as to the cost of the pipe-line.
