Large-Scale Jap. Landing In South-West Proposed
(Received 10 a.m.) HONGKONG, January 24. After a period of intermittent fighting within 30 miles of Canton, the Japanese have resumed bombing Pakhoi and are heavily reinforcing the troops in the vicinity of Canton. A message from Chungking says the Japanese later occupied Wai Chao Island and Pakhoi.
It is believed this is the prelude to an attempt at large-scale landing in south-west China.
