Building Activity In Kaitaia
The recent building activity in evidence in Kaitai'a has continued and before long several jobs will be completed.
A commencement has been made with the Kaitaia Dairy Company’s new offices in Commerce Street. The contractors, Messrs Worth and Weber, of Kaitaia, ha\fi moved their plant into position and already the foundations have been completed. Work has begun on the frame, which is of ferro-concrete. The completion of the extension of the premises of Messrs Wilson Moore Motors is in hand and shortly showroom and storage space will be available to handle the business of this firm. Theatre Alteration. Alterations to the Princess Theatre building are being made. To meet the needs of patrons a ladies’ rest room and conveniences are being installed. To meet these requirements the foyer h'as been extended and the addition, will fill a long felt want. Messrs T. Clements, contractors, of Otahuhu, Auckland, have begun work in Redan Road on offices for Mr W. Atkins, and this building will ultimately house the Town Board’s offices. Public Works Residence. Public Works residences have been erected in Church Rdad, and while this must provide a welcome relief for several public servants, the housing situation, as is the position elsewhere, is still acute in Kaitaia. Several private houses are in the coui'se cf construction and the major work under the Government Housing Scheme has been commenced. The local contractors, Messrs Worth and Weber, are undertaking the erection of six Government houses in Redan Road,
