Canterbury Boat Retains Sanders Cup

Securing a convincing win from Wellington in the fifth race at Bluff yesterday morning, the Canterbury boat Huia, sailed another great race in the afternoon to beat the Wellington boat Vanguard, and again win the Sanders Cup contest for 1939. The sailing times for the sixth and final race over a triangular course were: Huia: Ihr 40min 30sec; Vanguard: Ihr 41min 34sec; Lavina; Ihr 44min 30sec; Verona: Ihr 46min ssec; Lynette: Ihr 46min 20sec. Marjorie withdrew during the race. Huia won three races, Vanguard two and Marjorie one.
