Australia Declines N.Z. Postal Notes

[Per Press Association. Copyright . 3 - AUCKLAND, This Day.

Following the finanical restrictions imposed by the Government in the endeavour to conserve overseas sterling funds, New Zealand postal| notes are not being accepted by banks in Australia.

In returning a 5/- postal note to an Auckland resident, the New South Wales State Lottery Department wrote expressing regret at the action, which it was compelled to take because the banks in Sydney declined to accept New Zealand'money at present. The postal authorities in Auckland appear to have no knowledge of the restrictions imposed by banks-in Australia.
