30/- License Fee to Pay Vermin Bounty

[Special to ”Northern Advocate ”] AUCKLAND, This Day. The Auckland Acclimatisation Society’s meeting last night was convened specially to consider a request from the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W./K. Parry, that the society should co-operate in some campaign for the extermination of vermin, which prey on game and native birds. The desirability of obtaining uniformity among similar societies was discussed, and it was decided to advise the Minister that the proposed scheme would not, in the Society's opinion, be successful unless the other societies adopted equally effective measures. It was also decided to ask the Minister to state whether any decision had been reached on the proposal to increase the license to 30/-, as the society was desirous of paying increased bonuses for the destruction of vermin.- • Subject to the fees being increased, the society decided to increase the payment for stoats and weasels to 2/a tail and,!© 1/- for hawks’ feet. The president pointed out that proposed rates would not becoirie operative until officially advertised through the daily papers.
