The finding near Taumaranui of a converted Hastings motor car containing five cases of whisky had its sequel yesterday when Mervyn Valdimar Berggren appeared in the Hastings Magistrate’s Court to answer .two charges of .converting motor cars and two charges of theft. . On one of the conversion charges he was sentenced to one year’s imprisonment and on the second to three months’ imprisonment, the sentences to be concurrent. On the charges of theft he was convicted and ordered to come np for sentence if called upon, within 12 months.

On the charge of stealing five cases of whisky valued at ’ property of Percy Robert McGill, of Rotorua, Berggren was remanded to appear at Rotorua on Friday. '.
