Car Over Bank; Two Injured
Two tourists are in the Kaitaia Hospital as a result of a motor accident on Monday. Attempting to avoid a cattle truck, a car left the road and fell several feet down a*bank. Both the driver and his wife were injured. The car was extensively damaged. The accident occurred one and a-half miles south of Mangamuka Bridge. Coming round a bend, the driver of the car noticed a truck, belonging to Mcßae Brothers, Omahutu, coming in the other direction. The car was evidently forced over the bank as the tail of the truck swung round the bend.
Not realising that the car had gone over the bank, the lorry went on, and it was not until another car came on (he scene that the plight of the driver and his wife was noticed. They were taken to the Kaitaia Hospital, where their condition is not considered serious.
