Westfield Beef Market Over-Supplied

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Lid., report that at the Westfield stock sale yesterday their yarding of beef was a large one, the market being over-supplied. Values for cx beef were easier by about 1/ per 100 lbs, and about 2/ to 3/ down for cows. The easing trend was more pronounced in the heavier cattle. Quotations: —
Extra choice ox sold to 37/ per 100 lbs; choice and prime ox, 32/ to 36/; ordinary and plain, 25/ to 31/; prime young cow and heifer beef, 28/ to 32/; ordinary cow beef, 20/ to 27/. Extra heavy prime steers ranged in price from £l3 to £l3 10/; heavy prime steers, £l2 to £l2 15/; lighter prime steers, £ll to £ll 17/6; light prime steers, £9 10/ to £lO 15/; small and' unfinished steers,. £7 to £9 5/; extra heavy prime young cows and heifers, £9 7/6 to £9 15/; heavy prime cows and heifers, £8 to £9 5/; lighter prime cows and heifers, £6 17/6 to £7 15/; light prime cows and heifers, £5 to £6 15/; other killable cows, £3 to £4 17/6.
