MELBOURNE, January 23,
Many experienced bush and mill hands who lost their jobs as the result of the bush fires, are accepting employment in New Zealand.
The secretary of the Victorian Timber Workers’ Union, Mr Scanlon, said today that the first bach of five men were leaving Melbourne by the Maunganui on Wednesday. The men were going in response to a message from the New Zealand Union asking how it could help, said Mr Scanlon. The Victorian Union asked the New Zealand Union if it could find work for the men.
