Precautions Against Bomb Terrorists
(Received 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, January 23
Mary and Nora Glenn, two sisters, aged 22 and 18, respectively, were remanded at Manchester with unlawfully possessing a barrel of potassium chlorate, a cwt. of iron oxide, two Mills bombs, 49 sticks of gelignite, 10 electric detonators, and an alarm clock fitted with ,an electric connection.
Special precautions, including increased police guards for their Majesties, who are at present at Sandringham, and for British and Eire Minis*ters, were instituted during the weekend after the disclosure that terrorists, alleged to belong to the Irish Republican Army planned to renew the bombing outrages. Special detectives are shadowing Irish Republican Army leaders throughout Eire, where a big round up is expected shortly. Mr De Valera and the President, Dr. Hyde, are guarded all day and all night. Detectives from Scotland Yard raided houses in Highgate and Ilford, and seized about two tons of explosives.
