Jap. Boycott Urged By Australian

WASHINGTON, January 22,

Australia’s unofficial representative at the conference on the cause and cure of war, Miss Ruby Rich, pleaded the cause of Chin'a in even more impassioned words than the Chinese delegate, and both won support for a boycott of Japan.

In a speech which aroused the greatest enthusiasm of the day, Miss Rich said: “We, in Australia are definitely opposed to Mr Chamberlain’s policy. People' are formulating their own policies. “We are boycotting the goods of aggressor nations and the workers are also striking against the shipping of arms to Japan.” Miss Rich added that Australian peace proonents were supporting four angles of a single programme—the preservation of the Sanctity of treaties, disarmament, collective security, and the settling of international grievances by arbitration.
