ROAD COURTESY > CAMPAIGN.

courtesy c a mpaign in Northland. There is

* . no • doubt that consideration for the other man adds greatly to safety and lessens the anxious moments for men on the road —particularly the motorist who has not long years of experience behind him. There is some indication that road courtesy in the North is improving. Personally I’ve been driving here for .the past five years—driving an older make of dar , without dips, and with dims so dim that to drive with them is impracticable. I’ve always made it a habit to pull to the side when a car t approaches at night, stop, and leave only my parking lights burning. Usually motorists speed past without so much as a toot of acknowledgement. Last week-end, returning from Whangarei Heads, however, there were four motorists who pulled to the side and dimmed to give me a clear run on an up-hill grade. That sort of thing should be the rule rather than the exception. A road courtesy campaign, as suggested, should meet with the friendly support of all motorists.—"MODEL T.” .
