Russell’s Numerous Week-End Visitors
Motor campers and holiday-makers are still flocking into Russell and Paihia, and Saturday evening brought in the usual large week-end batch of visitors. All week-end excursions were fully patronised. Long Beach Popular. Long Beach was the popular Sunday rendezvous. The beach was well sheltered from the cool south-westerly wind, and crowds walked or motored over the hill from Russell. With the good surf running, many surf-boards were in evidence, and quite good sport was enjoyed. Numbers, however, preferred just to sunbathe on the-hot sands.
