Mr G. Rose, of Kawakawa, has returned after three weeks spent in Whangarei.
Mr D. Wilson, of Stanley Street, has returned to Whangarei. Mr Norman Rackham, of Auckland, is relieving Mr G. C. Hawkswood, of Messrs. Bond and Bond, Whangarei, for a few weeks.
Mr R. G. Weston, engineer to the Whangarei Hospital Board, has been granted authority to attend the annual conference of the Hospital Engineers’ Association, to be held at New Plymouth on February 7.
Miss J, O’Leary, sister in charge of the maternity annexe at the Whangarei District Hospital, commenced duty yesterday. Miss O’Leary, who has been engaged at the Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Hastings, Hawke’s Day, occupies the position vacated some time ago by Sister Minehan, now of the Northern Wairoa Hospital, .Te Kopuru. r A Well-known resident of Auckland, Mr Samuel Hesketh, of 89 Gillies Avenue, Epsom, barrister and solicitor, died at his residence on Sunday in his 90th year. He was senior partner in the legal firm of Messrs. Hesketh, Richmond, Adams and Cocker.
The temporary appointment of Mr Justice Quilliam as a Judge of the Supreme Court, has termi'nated, and he will retire from the Bench, according to an announcement lay the AttorneyGeneral, the Hon. H. G. R. Mason, yesterday.
