Fast Work At Ellerslie
[Special to “Northern Advocate”! AUCKLAND, This Day. Fast work at Ellerslie this morning was carried out on the No. 2 grass and the tan tracks, but, apart from a good effort over six furlongs by Miss Appellant, five furlongs by Silver Quex. and three furlongs by Tooley Street, there was nothing outstanding. Bonny Belle reeled off five furlongs in 1.5 2-5, the first furlong taking 13 4-5 seconds.
Silver Quex sprinted half a mile in 51 seconds, after taking 13 seconds for the first furlong. Beeswing and Bide a Wee finished in front of Bright Idea at the end of five furlongs, which took 1.7 1-5. Knight of Australia came home from the six-furlong post in 1.19 4-5. He was assisted over the last three furlongs by the British King gelding, this section being covered in 38 4-5 seconds. Ohmaha reeled off four furlongs in 52 3-5 seconds. This hack has improved during the last few weeks. Spinning Wheel was timed to run tliree furlongs in 39 seconds. Mintlaw and Hackenschmidt completed half a mile in 52 1-5 seconds. Mai de Mer was holding Love in Idleness throughout six furlongs run in 1.22, the last half-mile taking 54 1-5 seconds. Miss Appellant, after running her first three furlongs In 37 seconds, went on to complete six in 1.16 3-5. Shy and Jonathan were not extended while traversing six furlongs in .1.19. Tooley Street hit out freely over tliree furlongs, which he ran in 37 seconds. Galloping Acre had a bit in reserve at the conclusion of half a mile, which he ran in 52 2-5 seconds. Full o’ Scotch, after taking 27 seconds for the first two furlongs, got to the end of five in 1.6 3-5. He went very evenly throughout. Tea Gong and the Sargon gelding finished in front of Stonehaven, after traversing half a mile in 53 2-5 secs. Aero King finished up a useful task by running his last half-mile in 56 2-5 seconds. Over a similar distance, Fleetwind registered 53 2-5 seconds. Royal Appellant and Elise were on terms and going nicely at the conclusion of six furlongs, which occupied 1.24 1-5.
Hopalong and Hawthorn completed a round in 1.59, the last six furlongs being covered in 1.27 1-5. Love in Idleness cleared a couple of pony hurdles, and gave an improved display. • » Windcress was sent over six hurdles and completed his task in good style. Scot Abbey led Ringshot over a' couple of pony hurdles, which were practically lying; down- Scot Abbey, who had a lot of pace on, jumped the outside rail as he was going roimd the turn, and .unseated his rider.
