Whangarei Bowling Club Activities

Although boisterous weather conditions obtained last Saturday afternoon, the final round in each section of the club fours was completed. The games were interrupted on a number of occasions through heavy squalls and conditions as a result were anything but the best. Section 1 was won outright by Beehre's rink, with four wins; whilst in Section 2, the honours were shared by Marwick and Allan, each with four wins. Section 3 remains in a peculiar position, all five teams having. three wins each, therefore, all must either go forward for post-sec-tion play or start over again to determine the section winner. Most of the games played were closely contested, the only exception being the one between Allan and Piggott, the former winning comfortably. The results are as follow: Marwick 22, Chissell 21; Beehre 23, Staple 22, Ecclos 18; Orr 17, McLeod 17, Whitclaw 16; Caplin 18, Cox 16; Cutforth 20, Amos 17; Whitehead 20, Simmons 19; Allan 17, Piggott 11.
