CHRISTCHURCH EARTHQUAKE

[Per Press Association. Copyright.] CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. Thirty-six earthquakes were recorded at the Christchurch Magnetic Observatory during the 24 hours ended at 10 a.m. yesterday, the flurry of the shocks which commenced on Friday continuing over the week-end. They abated considerably yesterday, and for the 24 hours ended at 10 a.m. tcd'ay only one shock was felt. The most severe shock of the weekend was recorded at 11.16 a.m. on Saturday, but others were of brief duration. The origin of the shocks was located in a sparsely populated area in the mountains beyond Queenstown.
