Whangaroa W.D.F.U.
The monthly meeting of the Whangrca branch of the W.R.F.U. was held in the Kaoo Library on Thursday afternoon last, about 40 ladies being present. The president, Mrs W. H. Lane, was in the chair. AU members stood for the reading of the creed. The minutes were read by Mrs P. Miller in the absence of the secretary, Mrs C. Hows. In the r\:ll call, “Historical Date and Why Chosen,” there was a. good response. Interesting features of the meeting were lecturotles given by Mrs J. W. Hayes and Mrs J. S. Lane on their recent trip to Fiji. Mrs W. H. Lane, in a few well chosen words, presented Miss H. M. Scott, district nurse who is leaving the district shortly, with a beautiful crystal water set and a linen supper cloth, Miss Scott thanked all for their kindness. Many beautiful specimens of irises, delphiniums and gladioli were on show, grown by Mrs H. W. Costar, of Omaunu. Mrs Miller also displayed seme beautiful carnations. A delightful afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs F. Maddox, Mrs T. H. Hayes and Mrs 0. K. Whitehead.
