Maungaturoto Musical Recital

The pupils of Mr F. H. Taylor held a very pleasant breaking-up parly on Wednesday afternoon at the Kate Flower Memorial Hall. Maungaturoto. A large gathering of parents and friends was present and a most entertaining musical programme was presented by local pupils and assisting artists. Doris Murray and Pat Corner; solo, “Summer Days,” Robert Cockerton; “Polly Put the Kettle On” and “The Vicar of Bray,” Noeline Hayward; duet, “Lullaby,” Jean and Dora Cross: solo, “Rose,” Margaret Massey; Southern Night,” June McGill; “A Rose In My Garden,” Elizabeth Judd; “The Orey Squirrel,” Dora Cross; “Minuet,” Kathleen Rintoul; “A Little March” and “Gavotte,” Leo Maras; violin sclos, Miss Hazel Smith; solo, “Fragment,” Allano Ariell; “Venctia,” Jean Cross; solo, “Waltz,” Leslie Cross; “Ye Banks and Braes,” Lois Hames; “Cradle Song,” Una Flower; “The Rose Arbor,” Margaret Hames; “Sonata in G,” Doreen Smith; “Jig,” Jean Leach; “To the Rising Sun,” Doris Murray; “Roserhund,” duet, Margaret and Lois Hames; “17th Century Minuet,” Heather Jackman; “March in G,” Ronald Flyger; “Waltz in A,” Pat Corner; “Polonaise, C Sharp Minor,” Mrs Wily (Whangarei); “Raindrop Prelude,” Laura Ariell; “Spring Song,” Joyce McLean (Waipu); duet, “Serenata,” Laura 'and Allane Ariell. Vocal solos, “Almond Blossom,” “You Have Got Your Mother’s Eyes,” ‘id'ane,” and “Keep on Hoping,” Mrs Mackay (Paparoa); accompanied by Mrs Fenwick. The assisting artists were presented with very beautiful bouquets of flowers.

A dainty afternoon tea was served and added to the success of the function. The pupils presented Mr Taylor with a Christmas present and Mrs Taylor with a very pretty bouquet. Mr Taylor suitably thanked tho pupils and expressed ‘great pleasure at the interest taken in the pupils’ work by the Fargo and appreciative audience.
