V. Trounson, Hobson Chairman, To Retire
[Special to “Northern Advocate.”l DARGAVILLE, This Day.
At the monthly meeting of the Hobson County Council this morning, the chairman, Mr V. Trounson,' expressed a desire to retire, owing to ill-health. The council unanimously expressed the opinion that he should retain his position until the February meeting, when he will have completed his 25th year in office. ,'
Upon Mr Trounson agreeing to this suggestion, the council appointed the representative of the Te Kopuru riding, Mr F. 'Wordsworth, acting-chairman. Mr Trounson intimated that he would resign the chairmanship in February, but would continue to represent his riding. He has been chairman since February, 1914, without a break. He joined the council first in 1908.
Lease of Harbour Slipway I Tenders are to be called for the j lease of the Whangarei Harbour j Beard's slipway. At the board’s meeting today, the present arrangement at the slipway was considered by members as being unsatisfactory in the public interests. Tire secretaryl was instructed to call tenders for the lease. The board’s revenue, it was , said, came from a charge on boats brought up. on the slip.
