Trading Banks Assisting Importers
i Special to “Northern Advocate’’] AUCKLAND, This Day.
Funds for the resumption of import business in urgent necessities for which trade licenses are now bemg issued by the Customs Department, arc being provided for the commercial community through the trading banks.
It was stated today that as the present was the quietest time of the year in the arrival of imports, the immediate effects on business were causing less concern in Auckland than the more distant consequences due to the delays experienced in placing orders overseas. Meanwhile the banks were doing all in their power to assist in minimising the interference with the financing of the Dominion's imports. “Consideration will be given to applications for import licenses in respect to immediate orders for reasonable quantities of goods of an essential nature which are- urgently required,” said the Minister of Finance, the Hon. W. Nash, in a telegram this morning, replying to an inquiry by an Auckland importer.
