Clipper Crash Narrowly Averted

HONOLULU, October 19,

The American Philippine Clipper .arrived nearly a week late after averting a forced landing in the approximate area in which the Hawaii Clipper disappeared in July. Passengers unpacked when the ’plane dropped from a height of 8500 feet to 100 feet. One motor failed but the pilot calmly righted the craft and used the three remaining motors.
