Bank Officials' Pay Increased
(Received 10.0 sf.m.) MELBOURNE, September 30. Increased pay is provided for : 4000 bank officials in Victoria and Tasmania in a new award issued by the Arbitration Court. The award does not apply to the Bank of New South Wales, which is under a separate agreement, or the Bank of New Zealand, which is already paying above the award rates. The new salaries range from £BO for the first year—an increase of £6/12/a year—to £412 in the 18th year—an increase of £l4/8/1 a year. Branch managers are included in the award for the first time. Their salaries at branches of less than six hands, excluding agencies, are to be:—First year, £415; third year, £435. At branches of six or more hands: First year, £500; third year, £530.
Minimum rates for clerks are; Aged 21 years, £200; aged 28 years, £325. Officers away from their homes are to receive a minimum of £135.
