Kaiwaka Mrs W. Jeffs, of Ruawai, is the guest of her parents, Mr and Mrs Wm. Littin, j at Kaiwaka. i Mrs W. Hall, of Kaiwaka, is visiting i her daughter, Mrs T. H. Murphy, at Beachlands, Auckland. Mrs T. Donaldson, of Kaiwaka, with her infant twin sons, has left to spend a holiday with relatives in Palmerston North. Miss G. Lambarth, of Kaiwaka, is holidaying in Palmerston North, where she is the guest of relatives. Maungaturoto On Tuesday evening Miss K. Sadler | was the guest of honour at a gift even-1 ing tendered her by many friends in | the district. The Masonic Hall was the scene of the happy occasion. Messrs H. and D. Smith and Miss M. Sadler supplied very* enjoyable music for the dancing. Items were contributed by Master Dudly Brooks and Mr J. Fleming. Messrs A. Brooks and H, Kayes carried out the duties of Ms.C. Mr Arnold Cullen, on behalf of those present, spoke of the popularity and esteem in which the Sadler family is held in the district and asked Miss Kathleen Sadler to accept the gifts with the best wishes of those present. Mr Collicutt replied on behalf of Miss Sadler, who was then accorded musical honours. , A very dainty supper was served by the ladies and dancing continued until a late hour. Russell Miss Gwen English, who has been spending a holiday with her parents, returned to Auckland on Wednesday, accompanied by her mother, Mrs J. P. English. Miss English will leave Auckland by the Mariposa on Friday for a visit of several weeks to Sydney and Melbourne. She will be accompanied by her sister. Miss Betty English, of Auckland. Mrs H. King, of Beresford Street, is on a short visit to relatives at Whangarei. r ■ Mrs J ,B. Williams, “The Strand,” is visiting her daughter, Mrs G. Anderson, in Auckland. Mrs Carroll, of Tamnarunui, .arrived in Russell .on Tuesday on a visit to her daughter, Mrs D. Woodcock, Matawhi. Miss Macken, of Dinniss Avenue, Whangarei, has taken up residence in Russell. Kaeo The weekly card evening promoted by the Kaeo branch of the Labour Party was well attended. Prizes were aw'arded to:—Bridge, Mrs Blumhardt and Mr Glass; consolation, Mrs Houghton and Mr Renata. Five hundred, Miss P. Houghton, Mr Smyth© and Master J. Watson; consolataion, Mrs L. M. Lane, Mr J. Smith and Mr Hensley, The winners of the competition were Messrs. A. Johns and Gl’ass. . . ■ . , Supper was served by members of the ladies’ committee, > Mr and Mrs P. S. Miller are spending their annual vacation at Tauranga Beach, Maunu The attendances at the euchre parties at the Maunu Hall are still very good and play is very keen as the season draws to a close. In the ladies’ section this week, the first prize again went to Mrs Godwin. In the men’s section Mr H. Speer was the winner. Supper was served at 10.30 p.m. and a jolly hour’s dancing followed. Mr Gunson and Mr Norris supplied popular music. j
