Victoria Valley

The National Party’s dance held on Thursday was a great success. The winners of the two Monte Carlo dances were Mr and Mrs Wilfred Thompson and Miss Valerie Panther and Mr Ken Kimbers. The guessing competition was won by Mrs Allan White. Towards midnight an excellent home-cooked supper was served. The funds of the Valley branch of the National Party will benefit to the extent of at least £7 from this dance and the committee is grateful to all who helped to .achieve this object. Mrs Frank Thomas has been visiting Victoria Valley. Mr and Mrs Ross White are visiting Auckland for a holiday. Mrs F. White has been taken ill and is at the nursing home of her daughter, Mrs Jones. All Valley folks wish her a very speedy recovery.

During last week-end a handicap golf competition was held on the local links, the winners being Mr Walter Kitchen among the men, while the ladies' match resulted in a tie between Mrs Walter Kitchen and Miss Frankie White.
