Umawera

On Saturday evening a card party was held at the residence of Mr. and Mrs. B. McDonald to raise funds for the Umawera Horticultural Society’s show. Mrs. McDonald presented a dressed fowl for competition arranged by her, and which was won by Mr, J. Abraham. The prizes for 500 were won by Mrs. Carmen and Mr. Abraham. consolation awards going to Mrs. Postlewaight and Mr. A. Standing. Mr. Perry (president) thanked Mr. and Mrs. McDonald for their kind thought ar;d help and, after a fine supper served by the ladies, all joined in cheers and singing for “They Are Jolly Good Fellows.” The funds benefit to the extent of more than £3.
