Band Officers Elected

Despite unfavourable weather conditions, there was a fair attendance at the Whangarei Municipal Band’s annual meeting last night, Mr J. C. Reynolds being in the chair. Officers for the ensuing year were appointed as follows:—Patron: Mr J. G. Barclay, M.P.; president: Mr -C. Ford; vice-presidents: Messrs. T. Mitchell and L. J. Brake; bandmaster: Mr J. W. Dobson; band-sergeant: Mr R. Beehre; secretary-treasurer: Mr H. Fleweliyn;. band-corporal; Mr A. Salmon; librarian: Mr T. Dobson; committee: Messrs. J. Dobson, F. Brier, R. Beehi’o and D. Boreham; drummajor: Mr F. Brier: auditor: Mr H. W. Crawford. At the conclusion of the business an enjoyable social function was held. The following toast list was honoured: The King: The Auckland Brass Bands' Association (proposed by Mr J. W. Dobson, replied to by Mr H. Flewellyn); The Past President (Mr D. L. Smedley—Mr J. C. Reynolds); The President (Mr F. C. H. Cowan —Mr C. Ford); The Borough Council (Mr H. Fleweliyn—Messrs. Cowan, Smedley and J. S. Woolley): the Senior and Junior Bands (Mr H. Salmon —Mr A. Dobson); the Visitor’s (Mr R. Beehre— Messrs. G. Reed, R. Roseman and M. Edgar); and the Artists (Mr F. Brierreplied to by the artists). Messrs. J. Jones, J. Dobson and MeIlroy provided a variety of entertainment., Mr J. W. Dobson presiding at the piano.
