Dominion Farm Dairy Instruction

Explaining the provisions of the Dairy Industry Amendment Bilk which was introduced in the House of Representatives to-day, the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin. stated it was a short measure of but two clauses and made provision for the bringing into operation of a Dominion farm dairy instruction system Dairy industry interests had been thoroughly consulted on the matter before the measure was prepared. A very large number of dairy factories, he said, had in operation a voluntary scheme of instruction, and the Dairy Beard considered it should be Domin-ion-wide. Extra Staff as Advisers, Thirty-five extra men would be appointed. making 77 altogether. It was not proposed that these men should act as inspectors, but they would be mere in the nature of advisers. Reports had indicated the value of the voluntary system. The Stock Act Amendment Bill was read a first time, and also a second time, pro forma, and referred to the agricultural and pastoral committee of the House. The Dairy Industry Amendment Bill was read a first time.
