Farewell At Parakao

Two well-known residents of the Mangakahia Valley. Mr and Mrs P. Birch, were farewelled bv friends in the Parakao Hall on Thursday night. Both Mr and Mrs Birch have taken an active part in sporting and social affairs, and the large crowd which attended the function bore testimony to the popularity the couple had won in the district. During supper, Mr G. Hunter, on behalf of the local residents, presented the guests of honour with a fireside chair, a drawing-room table and a cutglass vase. Speaking for the various sports bodies, Mr F. Platt eulogised the services of Mr and Mrs Birch to sporting interests in the district. Mr Birch suitably replied, and a most enjoyable evening was brought to a close with musical honours for the guests.
